Yesterday, BCCI announced it’s 30 probable players for ICC Champions Trophy 2013. But the shocking news is that Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Virendra Sehwag are not in the top 30. They have been dropped for their poor performances and bad fitness. ICC Champions Trophy is going to take place this year in England, from 6th June to 23rd June. BCCI does not have faith on these experienced players of India.
Virendra Sehwag, who is known for his aggressive batting style is failed to score a single century since December 2011. He had scored just one fifty in last one and a half year. His last century (219) was against West Indies in Dec 2011. Zaheer Khan’s battle with fitness is not coming to an end. Harbhajan Singh is fit for the tournament. But, last one year he was not able to fill his bag with the wickets. He was the wicket taking bowler when India played against Australia. But unfortunately he was not able to take wickets against Australia, in Feb-Mar 2013 home series.
Despite getting dropped in last two test matches against Australia Gautam Gambhir has been selected for the 30 probable. Shikhar Dhawan has also selected for his outstanding 187runs against Australia in 3rd test match. He will fill Viru’s place. New young talent of India and U19 World cup Captain Unmukht Chand and all-rounder Parvez Rasool and Jalaj Saxena from Jammu and Kashmir and Madhya Pradesh are selected in the squad too. Seamer Ishwar pandey from Madhya Pradesh, who was the highest wicket taker in Ranji Trophy and Punjab’s Siddarth Kaul was next in that list are there in the list of 30.
After the end of IPL, the 15 players may get announced who will play in the ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Although Harbhajan, Viru and Zaheer had poor form in last one and a half year, will they get another chance to make their place in the top team? But, They have to work hard if they want to comeback in Indian team.
